In the weekend of 16-18 January 2009, Col du Petit Saint-Bernard, at the heart of the International Ski Area San Bernardo, held the 1st stage of the French Championship of Open Distance Snowkiting 2009.

On Friday took place a free practice, some demonstrations and gear tests. Saturday took place the Open Distance competition and the Boardercross snowkiting.

The winners of these first stage were:
Skiing Men: Nicolas JACQUEMOND
Ski Women: Cristelle BAUD
Snowboard Men: Jerome FALCONNAT
Snowboard Women: Anaïs Rouveyrol
