Asian Tour starts this month

12 October 2009 | 1:54 pm

October 29th Xiamen China, is the first day of the first kiteboard competition tour to take place in Asia. The tour is at a pro/am level and open to everyone as it moves around the region visiting not only China but also Hong Kong, Vietnam, the Philippines and Thailand between Oct 09 and Mar 2010.You can take in all the details and information at the KTA site www.kiteboardtour.asia

The KTA tour is sanctioned by the IKA meaning that all riders will receive world-ranking points as they compete towards become the KTA Tour Champions or the first ever Asian Champions. The support and encouragement for local born and bread riders from the Asian region is very much part of the KTA ethos and there is a great deal of talent throughout Asia but not as yet so much opportunity for the local guys, especially those from the less affluent countries. You know the guys that spend their time running around pumping up your kites and landing and launching you, while snatching their riding time in the early hours on borrowed equipment. It’s some of these guys the KTA is trying to help further and open a new door or two for and therefore has introduced a ‘riders grant scheme’ to help get this guys the chance to be part of the tour and who knows become future professional riders.
