PKRA Brazil 2008

23 September 2008 | 2:23 am

KiteXtreme Mundial PKRA – Brasil 2008 – The Professional Kiteboard Riders Association, the ultimate
authority in kiteboarding events is once again bringing the competition to the northern coast of Piaui, Brazil in the city of Parnaiba.

PKRA Brasil 2008

Parnaiba is located in the famous Delta Do Parnaiba (Parnaiba River Delta) formed by 70 islands and will be playing host to the second to the last stop of the PKRA 2008 World Tour dubbed as KiteXtreme Brasil 2008. From September 23 to 28, PKRA’s world-class kiteboarders will once again converge for a chance at the Brazilian Freestyle championship crown and $40,000 prize money. A total of 60 competitors
representing 18 different nationalities are expected to grace the event featuring some of the greatest kiteboarding athletes the world has ever seen.
Last year’s Brazil event proved to be one of the most memorable PKRA Tour stops.

In last year’s World Tour, Brazil proved to be one of the most consistent wind spot of all the Tour stops made by the PKRA. This year, the weather forecast looks even more promising, with consistent winds averaging 30 knots and warm weather averaging 24° Celsius, the Piaui Tour venue will surely be one of the best that PKRA has this season.
Netherland’s Kevin Langeree (Naish Kiteboarding) won last year’s Brazilian Tour stop for the men while Spain’s Gisela Pulido (Slingshot) won the women’s title. With Langeree now tied with current title holder and UK’s Aaron Hadlow (Flexifoil) for the world championship crown, the Brazilian round will surely be a sizzling-hot competition between these two extreme kiteboarding athletes.
Alvaro Onieva applauded Langeree’s moves in the freestyle singles elimination semi-final after being defeated for a chance at the top podium spot.

Langeree went on to defeat Hadlow, in the singles and took home the championship crown after winning in the doubles final event. Spain’s Alex Pastor climbed all the way up the competition ladder defeating Hadlow in the doubles semi-final and fought Langeree in the finals. In the women’s event, Karolina Winkowska defeated Pulido in the singles but the young Spanish kiteboarder emerged victorious in the doubles, taking home the Brazilian championship title.

The 2008 KiteXtreme Brasil 2008 is being organize by the GEST Group thru the able leadership of General Director Erich Steffen and event coordinator Eduardo Piloni.
