Racing fever on Westerland – The starting signal for the SEAT Kitesurf World Cup 2010 is fired/ five races already battled out
Today the international Kitesurf-choice was welcomed by bright sunshine and a gentle to moderate breeze. 60 kiters gathered at Westerland’s beach to transform the island into an international race-circuit. Today four races took place.
As expected the Frenchmen Bruno Sroka, number one of the world and Julien Kerneur, number six of the world battled it out. Five races later Bruno Sroka is dominating the overall ranking, with compatriot Julien Kerneur breathing down his neck. The Dutch Rolf van der Vlugt is ranked in third.
The best German kiter is Gunnar Biniasch in fifth position. Germany’s race-hope, Dirk Hanel – third of the world-ranking, takes seventh.
Best woman of the day is the Dutch Katja Roose. She clearly dominated four out of the five races. Bad luck for the German ladies: many technical defects avoid good results in front of their home crowd.
Also the freestylers are getting ready. For the weekend the organizers expect perfect conditions for the “performers of the air”.
