Electric is the brand that is famous for the high quality goggles and sunglasses.
Last year they ventured in the world of watches. This year they added 2 more digital models to their already quite vast collection, the ED01 and the ED01 – T.
The Electric ED01 – T
The Electric ED01 – T is a simple tide watch. Unlike Nixon and Rip Curl tide watches the Electric doesn’t have pre programed selection of beaches.
You just have to check a tide table and program the watch with the coming tides according the place you wish to check. Once it’s done you can see future tides. It’s as simples as that.
The ED01-t is available in several colors colors, from the the electric green to the sober black, and with 2 bands, a Custom molded PU band or Polyester nato style band. My favorite is the black version with the PU band which reminds me of an old Casio that I owned when I was a kid.
This watch has all the functions you can expect in a modern waterman watch: Dual time, moon phase, calendar, alarm, countdown/heat time, chronograph and backlight.
The ED01-T has a water rating of 10ATM (100 meters). That means you can surf, snorkel and shower daily with your watch on. It’s a good watch for an average surfer and kitesurfer but not recommended for any serious diving.
The most important function of this watch is the tidal mode.
In tidal mode, you can easily browse through upcoming tides. You do it either clicking through a loop of the current and next two tides, or by clicking as far forward into the future as you wish.
Price-wise the Electric ED01 – T sells for 100 USD / 80 pounds / 100 Euros.
Summing up, we have a winner. For this price you can’t get a better and nicer looking tide watch.
Pros: solid watch, easy read and easy setup, moon phase watch, classic and clean look, price.
Cons: clicks every time you press a button. I’d rather have a metal lock than a plastic one.
