X3 kite compression kit

5 September 2011 | 5:44 pm

The team from ModernFuelProducts had a brilliant idea to adapt vacuum bags for kiteboarding gear. And so the X3 kite compression kit was born.

They were kind enough to let us try it and they also teamed up with KiteMovement to give away two X3 kite compression kits.
The X3 is an excellent idea that will allow you to pack your kites better and instead of carrying a golf bag with 2 kites you can easily put 5 or 6 inside. Trust us, we tried it!

The kit includes:
1 x Vac Adapter, Compatible with all kite pumps and all vacuum bags, made from durable plastic and a keychain hole for safe keeping.
3 x kite compression bag, made of extra thick durable plastic, size 50cm x 100cm with a lockable one way valve.

The modus operandi is quite simple:

1. Place your kite and/or clothing into the kite compression bag and seal it. Twist the valve to the ON position.
2. Connect the vac adapter to the hose on your air pump. The hose must be connected to the ‘deflate’ side of your pump.
3. Use the vac adapter to make a seal with the valve on the kite compression bag and pump the air out. Twist the valve to the OFF position once the kite’s size is reduced.

A quick tip, while at home you can use a regular vacuum cleaner to extract the air from inside of the bag. It’s easier and faster.

Regarding durability of the X3, well we are speaking of a kite compression bags made of extra thick durable plastic, so it will last longer if you take care of it. For example, you should pack kites without sand, totally dry and keep the bags out of direct sun light. ModernFuelProducts estimates that if you go on two trips a year and look after the bags according to the care instructions, the bags will last approximately 3 – 4 years.

The X3 kite compression kit is a must have for every kitesurfer to use on kite trips.

At the photos you can see a 7m kite, before and after we put it inside the X3. As you can see the kite didn’t occupy all vacuum bag. Of course you can reduce the volume even more.

Stay tuned because we will have a give away of 2 X3 kite compression kit soon.
