Flexifoil Ion 4

28 January 2009 | 11:32 am

The guys from board-worx already took a look at the news Flexifoi Ion 4. Read their first impressions about it :-)

Just seen the New Flexifoil Ion 4, this kite is not going to be released till later in the year, but it looks like Flexifoil have taken a lot of notice of the core customer base, the Ion4 has been given a more friendly riding style like the Ion2, it still keeps the fast turning ability of the Ion3, but there has been a real effort to make the kite work with less input.

Flexifoil Ion 4

This is great for the rider who is not so interested in handle passes but for the weekend warrior who just needs a friendly kite that is easy to jump, is very stable and above all very well manured even in the terrible Uk gusty conditions. There has been a few more attachment points added to the leading edge to keep the kite feeling tighter in the sky, the last bridle has been shortened so it cannot get trapped under a wing tip.

The kite now seems to develop a little more power than previous models size for size. Getting on a smaller kite, with the same power but a fast turning machine, great, what dreams are made of. As per usual the Ion4, has the great Flexifol well built construction, and it can be used as a 4 or 5 line kite.

  • Kitemovement says:

    Hi Rob.
When you have the new IONs let us know what you think about them ;-)
    Take care and ride safe

  • vince says:

What about exceptional relaunch ala CAB and Ozone. The Flexi kites are great but relaunch is a pain.

  • Jens Kejser says:

what do you mean by “relaunch is a pain” cant you just ride it with 5 line on?

  • adam says:

when will these be avaliable oto buy?

  • sinisa says:

The Ion 4 re-launch is perfect, we have tested it in various conditions and re-launches no problem. Re-launch can be done by simply pulling on one of the back lines and the kite moves to the edge of the window with no effort, alternatively you can pull on the de-power strap and the kite rolls over and moves to the edge of the window “no problem”.
We have also managed to re-launch the kite backwards off the water, this method also works really well on the new AH PRO

If you are in the market for some new gear, don’t look any further…… Flexi Ion 4, you will not be disappointed.

  • Chopy says:

I have an Ion3, 10.5m and am looking to buy a 7m Ion4. Does anyone has any feedback from this kite? I didnt have the chance to try the Ion4 but really love my Ion3 so Im hoping The Ion4 would be even better.
Also, is the bar really different or would it be possible to use the Ion3 bar on the Ion4?

    Thanks a lot :)

  • G Man says:

Both my friend and I have just bpought a new flexifoil ion 4 8.5 meter.

Over the poast few days we have both dropped the kite into the sea, and been unable to relaunch it. This despite the fact that it was blowing 25 knots.

Anybody got any tips on getting this kite back into the air? Dont want to have to swim to shore every time the kite goes down
