The “KB4girls” foundation and the “Aim for the Stars” foundation follow the same mission – to support females on their way to reach their personal goals and dreams. They now join forces to fulfill even more dreams and support young females on their way to success.
The Layne Beachley “Aim for the Stars” foundation was created in 2003 by 7 time Surfing World Champion, Layne Beachley herself. It was created to inspire girls and women across Australia (Layne’s home country) to dream and achieve.
Having experienced the financial pressures of supporting her professional surfing career, Layne set out to establish a foundation offering assistance for those who need some extra help to achieve their ambitions. She says: “It is a hard task to be the best at your chosen aspiration when you are busy trying to substitute your income or do your school work. There were plenty of moments when I wanted to quit but I cannot begin to imagine where I would be now if I let money dictate my love for surfing.”
The Layne Beachley Aim for the Stars Foundation was built to prevent girls and women alike from having to go through this same amount of adversity. Encompassing academic, sport, cultural and community pursuits, Aim for the Stars offers ambitious and dedicated females an opportunity to receive financial and moral support to help them achieve their goals.
The KB4girls foundation on the other hand was launched by 9 time Kiteboarding World Champion Kristin Boese with the goal to support females in the sport and give them more recognition in a male dominated world.
In fundraising events the KB4girls foundation now also reaches out to girls and women in need around the world and partners with national foundations. In Australia KB4girls’ has chosen the “Aim for the Stars” foundation to be the benefiting charity of their fund raising event taking place from December 17th to 18th, 2011 in Perth.
