As a result of the work developed by the new direction of APKite, since May 2008, another important goal was achieved: to turn the Portuguese Kite Association into the Portuguese Kite Federation (FPKite) – Sports Promoting Association (APD).

With the existence of an APD, Kite will be recognized by the IDP (Portuguese Sports Institute) as the regulator of the sport and get the recognition by official entities, such as the Maritime Authorities and the Capitanias, an essential step to develop the Kite in Portugal.

From now on FPKite-APD is Association of Clubs and Athletes.

FPKite-APD aims to promote, regulate and develop the national Kite, getting more involved with the Clubs and Associations of Practitioners. They will keep doing everything possible to create the best conditions that will benefit their growth at all levels.
