World Water Day is an event established by The United Nations. It is held on March 22 each year to highlight the challenges associated with water as a precious and scarce resource.

The 2012 theme is “Water for Cities: Responding to the Urban Challenge”. UN estimates that one in six people worldwide lack acces to freshwater and as world’s population grows freshwater is growing scarce.
