EVOA- sunscreen that respects the environment

27 June 2013 | 2:16 pm

EVOA- Protects you, protects the coral reef & respects the Ocean.” This is what is written on all Evoa products. We set on a quest to find out if that’s really true.

First we found out that the founder of Evoa, Edward Thouvenot is as passionate about cosmetics as he is about the environment. He wanted to create a brand that would combine both respect for the body and respect for the environment. Together with the world’s leading specialists in marine biology a range of solar products got created that protect your body and the oceans at the same time.

EVOA is not a regular company, they have a set of principles they follow:
Protection of the human body
Respect for the marine environment
Share
Responsibility
Ecology
Environmental protection

Protecting the environment has become their daily struggle.

“The coral reefs are dying each year because of pollution, global warming, and during natural disasters such as tsunamis. Few of these factors can find short-term solutions. While trying to fix all this can take time. The use of neutral sunscreen is a quick fix and our responsibility … “

EVOA, sunscreen is the only range in the world that is neutral to coral and marine environment and it has been scientifically proven. What’s more important EVOA has several partnerships in surfing and diving. They donate 1% of their turnover to Surfrider.

They also donate a portion of their revenue to 1% for the Planet, the organization that brings together companies that commit at least 1% of their sales to one or more environmental causes.

Now how about some real product testing. We have received the whole range of products to test: sun creams, sun stick, tanning oil ad lipstick. and were interested in 3 aspects: the texture, how easily it spreads on your skin, the quality how well does it protect your skin and the water resistance, since it is made for people who love the ocean.

evoa-spf-50-stick
The stick with sunscreen 50+ was made especially for the surfers. It is super easy to aply and it stays on your face protecting you from the sun, it doesn’t get washed away with water so you don’t need to worry about getting cream in your eyes. It smells nicely and protects your skin and the oceans. Safe surfing!

evoa-sunscreen-spf-501
The sun creams ranging from SPF15 to SPF50 are really fantastic too for the days you spend in the open sun, outdoors during long periods of time. We loved those sunscreens for going on smoothly and leaving no residue. But it’s best feature is it’s sunblocking abilities without containing the harmful chemicals found in other sunscreens. It is safe for you and for those around you.

evoa-tanning-oil
Finally the tanning oil, 100% natural as all of the above. It smells super nice, leaves your skin smooth and with a healthy glow. It will help you sun tan safely faster. I wouldn’t use it during the day because I like to protect my skin from harmful sun rays but it is a perfect solution for late afternoon outdoors.

We have also received a lipstick with sunscreen 30 which keeps your lips safe and moisturized.

With this complete range we definitely felt that our skin was protected and we were happy we weren’t harming the environment and the oceans that are something we cannot live without.
