The Bighorn Snowkite Summit Collaboration Project is an event that was held on December 2 – 8th 2013 in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, US. The summit was organised by representatives of all types of snowkiting in order to create a formal structure for snowkite competition.
During hours of brainstorming a 1 to 6 grading concept was created, just like in many other sports such as rock climbing, whitewater kayaking, mountaineering where direct competition isn’t suited. A grade of difficulty let individuals improve progressively against the scale.
Becoming fluent in the use of a grading system allows you to attempt more challenges more progressively to ultimately become better. It also is a gateway for beginners since it’s easy to know you should seek out class 1 conditions when you start.
